Dock jumping is best described as a long jump for dogs. Dogs race down a 40-foot dock, and leap out into the water. The
dog that clears the most distance from the edge of the dock is the winner.
Sound pretty simple? Well, yes and no. There is a great amount of training and conditioning involved if you
plan to become competitive in this growing sport. Even if you're just in it for fun, training and conditioning are very
important to the health and safety of you and your dog.
Dock jumping events are held all over the U.S. throughout the year. Events are open to anyone who owns a dog
that loves to jump into the water. Any breed, large or small, alls dogs are welcome at these events. Please visit
dockdogs.com for information on event locations and to view rules and policies if you are planning to give this sport a try.
